The Roosters would have been very content with their first half, kicking eight goals to enter the main break leading by 41 points.
After a fairly even third quarter, Nelson Bay landed seven of the last eight goals of the match to give Singleton an awful fright.
Despite being held to four points in the last term, the Roosters hung on for a big win and now sit in fifth place on the BDAFL ladders as they look to next Saturday’s massive clash, where they host Killarney Vale at Rose Point Park.
Jackson Kolatchew showed how much Singleton need him in full fitness and good form, producing a match-winning five goals in a great sign for Andrew Scott and his men.
Luke Davis chipped in with two majors in fine support for the mercurial Kolatchew.
Scott was again superb in the centre for Singleton, capping a magnificent month of football for his Roosters and for the BDAFL representative side.
He was well-supported by Cam White, Josh Long, Kolatchew and tall forward/ruckman Brenton Potter.
Singleton 4.5, 8.8, 10.9, 10.13 (73)

The Singleton Roosterettes put up a dogged, committed performance against the undefeated Newcastle City Stars before going down by 44 points, 8.9.57 to 2.1.13.
The match was pretty even throughout with the Stars just having a bit more polish in the forward half of the ground.
The loss sees Singleton slip out of the top seven, despite Tori Cowburn and Hayley Frazer kicking Singleton’s goals.
The Roosterettes were best served by Tahlia Thompson, Hayley Richards, Renee Deitz, the outstanding Cowburn and Lua Roser.

Singleton 0.0, 1.0, 2.0, 2.1 (13)
