From Nigel Burley and Jeremy Robarbs to Damien Penfold and Luke Gilkson, there will be plenty of local talent racing at the Hedweld Group of Companies 32nd Milbrodale Mountain Classic on Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15.
Hosted by the Hunter Valley Off Road Racing Association (HVORRA), secretary Marion Baxter says the classic is an entertaining family event with affordable entry prices and a great spectator viewing area.
The popular event is Round 3 of the NSW Off Road Championship, Round 1 of the Premier NSW Long Course Championship and Round 2 of the East Coast Tri Challenge.
And with 56 competitors set to compete, the action on the track is set to be first class.
“A large contingent of HVORRA members have entered the Classic and will all be attempting to win the prestigious ‘Man of the Mountain’ award, or will the ladies take this award home as we have the Hedley ladies, Kristy and Rikki, both driving their Extreme 2WD vehicles with each trying to get the better of their sister and Ally Howells from Sydney in her Prolite after a very strong performance in the tough 2018 Tatts Finke Desert Race,” enthuses Baxter.
“There is always plenty of friendly rivalry at this event with club members Damien Penfold, Justin Guy, Joshua Howells, Glen Towers and Peter Skaza in their powerful Pro Buggies set to once again provide plenty of very fast racing.”
While in the Extreme 4WD class we will see Ian Cotton, Lucky Mattiussi, Ian Egdell and Matt Chaff with new comer Joshua Nurrish having his first run at the event vying for the win, she explains.
“Nigel Burley driving his Super 1650 and Jeremy Robards driving his Pro Buggy should handle the tough course well as their wives will be in the passenger seat giving them directions throughout the race.”
“The Milbrodale Classic is a great family event with prices for adults $10, Children 16 to 12 $5, under 12yrs free and has a good spectator viewing area with food and drink stalls open all weekend, amusements and helicopter rides.”
“The club also proudly supports Witmore Enterprise, Simply Loving Taylor and CanTeen and would like to thank the property owners Rodney and Noelene along with Ian and Jan Hedley, Bulga Coal-Glencore, WIN TV, Myne Signs, M&K Water Carts, Lancaster Motors, Brison Contracting, Moorecivil – plus all Class sponsors.”
