But there’s nothing old fashioned about the administration side of things – there’s a brand new website and online facilities for all entries.
The show will run over two and a half days and two nights on November 23–25.
Show officials are eager to build on the success of the 2017 exhibition judged, by many, to have been the best in recent years. Dorrigo Show association president, Sally Duckett, says committee members are keen to extend the size and impact of many of the 2017 features.
These include the grand parade, wood chopping, beef show, Friday night rodeo, pavilion sections, feature events and ring commentaries. “We sense a growing interest among exhibitors and visitors and we are committed to responding positively to this enthusiasm,” she said.
“Our new website gives an extensive overview of all aspects of our show and includes a large gallery of photographs. You may visit us at www.dorrigoshow.com online entries make life much easier for our office staff but for those who prefer it, the old method of entries is still acceptable.
“Dorrigo Show will hold a stall at the next Made in Dorrigo Day, July 14, to promote membership. Early membership renewal places you in a draw to win some great prizes. Go to the website and download your forms.”
Overwhelming public demand has prompted a return of the Ray White Rural Rodeo on Friday night starting at 7pm. Competitors will face up to thirty bulls from Matthew Doak Bucking Bulls, Bundarra. These will include 10 to 15 “mini” bulls for the under 16’s events. Mr Doak’s “mini” bulls are bred to meet the height limitations required for junior riders. Rodeo classes will include open and novice bull rides, 14-to-under 18 steer ride, 8-to-under 11 poddy ride, 8-to-under-11 mini bull ride, and 11-to-under 14 mini bull ride. And of course, there are generous cash prizes to be won. Contact Matthew Doak on 0428 237 343 for more information about fees and how to register. Buy a membership ticket and receive free entry into Friday night’s Rodeo that attracted more than 1 000 fans last year.
The show kicks off at 2pm on Friday with the junior beef sections. In 2017 the beef industry was highlighted and the competition attracted farmers from across the region. Even more have entered this year, with 15 different beef breeds on display. While the dairy and commercial beef sections are on Saturday and Sunday. The Dorrigo Plateau has long been famous for its dairies, so it’s no wonder the Jersey and Holstein Friesian exhibits are always stunning.
