The NSW Government is committing $85 million to provide two travel lanes in each direction and a flyover for vehicles turning right from the Golden Highway towards Maitland and Newcastle. Design changes include replacing the proposed U turn facility on the Golden Highway with a roundabout, to improve access for nearby properties and businesses, and building a new access road to the roundabout from the abattoir.
