But cool head, experienced chief hanger Nerina Gausden has it under control.
The Singleton Civic Centre is being transformed into an art lover’s paradise as they sort and hang about 590 entries that have arrived by post and courier.
The entries have come in from all over the country and those responsible for hanging the works have some hard days ahead.
Art prize coordinator and member of The Rotary Club of Singleton on Hunter Andrew Levick says this year’s exhibition is shaping up to be one of the best yet.
“We are fortunate to have the experience of our volunteers who know how to get this job done and done well,” he says.
The exhibition opens at 6pm on Friday night, July 23 with $27 tickets available at the door that include a free catalogue, finger food, live entertainment and complimentary wine.
Winners will be announced at 7.45pm and afterward this the artworks will be available to purchase.
The exhibition is then open daily from 10 am to 6pm until July 30 with a $2 entry fee.
This year’s judge is the unique Mignon Parker and as per usual she will be in attendance at the annual artist’s workshop at Sacred Spaces on July 28 and 29.
Mignon’s prolific work is not limited to one style, rather a unique and diverse ride through many different styles and techniques.
Her love of flowers and the figure are reflected in the work she presents. Mignon works in a diverse range of media such as watercolour, acrylic, oil, rust oxidisation, patinas and encaustic. Inspired by nature her passion is colour and texture and her work continues to evolve and engage the viewer with new images.
