It’s the continuing support from the team at Singleton Smash Repairs that makes events like this possible and they are sincerely thanked for this.
With blustery winds blowing for much of the day, it was a tough day for scoring. There were only four nett scores below par.
Veterans Noel Harden and Col Fogarty tied with the day’s lowest score of 66 but unfortunately there can only be one winner.
The computer counted out Fogarty and that left Harden standing atop the victory podium.
Low scratch scores were hard to find with only four players breaking 80. The grade scratch winners were: A grade Matt Dicks 75, B grade Reese Brinkworth 81, C grade Henry Morrow 90.
In A grade, it was former Club Champion Wayne Rutter that wound back the clock for an easy win. Wayne’s nett score of 68 was victorious by 4 strokes from Andrew Bonarius on 72
The B grade winner was Wayne Orr with a nett 68. Wayne just scraped in with Clint Evans hot on his heels with a 69.
In C grade Fogarty’s 66 easily put paid to Bob Downes challenge of 69.
The Secret 9 event awarded the best putters on the day with golf balls. The best four players in finishing order were Fergus Hay (24c/b), Stuart Leggett (24), Dave Porteus (26c/b), and Gary Edwards (26).
This Saturday’s tournament was scheduled as a Stableford Countdown, however with many of our golfers travelling to Gloucester for their annual Open event the event has been changed to an individual Stableford.
There are still a few times available for the Glencore Singleton Junior Open being played this Sunday. With nearly $3000 of prizes up for grabs there will certainly be some intense battles on the course. Contact the Pro Shop or Jo or Mel from the junior committee for more information.
A reminder to members that the annual Holden Scramble event is on September 23. All entries this year are online via the Holden Scramble web site. See Les in the Pro Shop for more information.
