Two local firefighters joined a Fire & Rescue NSW Upper Hunter Strike Team to provide protection during the Salt Ash fire on Sunday.

Singleton 444 acting captain Joe Adamthwaite, and deputy captain Mitch Tull, were a part of Strike Team Mike along with firefighters from Abderdeen, Denman and Muswellbrook.
They left Singleton at 11.45am and returned at approximately 9pm.
At around 5pm the NSW Rural Fire Service downgraded the blaze from the Emergency alert level to Watch and Act.
According to the RFS, the fire has burnt 2 040 hectares and is contained.
Limited fire activity has been reported from the fireground overnight but firefighters remain on scene and continue to work on strengthening and consolidating containment lines.
Lemon Tree Passage Road is open to traffic. Motorists moving through the area are advised to exercise caution with smoke reducing visibility and firefighters continuing to work in the area.
People in the areas of Salt Ash, Oyster Cove, Tilligerry, Tanilba Bay, Mallabula and Lemon Tree Passage should continue to monitor the situation closely and be prepared to enact your Bush Fire Survival Plan.
