This year two year seven students, Charlotte Hornfeldt and Isabella McKenzie, felt compelled to lose their locks to raise money for cancer research.
And, thanks to local hairdresser Hayley Redmond from Tre Bella it all went smoothly.
Charlotte says she raised over $500 after carrying around “a bucket at school for a week” while Isabella managed to collect $260 in just two days.
The popular annual fundraiser is organised by the Student Representative Council (SRC) in memory of the late Tom Kirkwood who lost his battle with cancer while attending SHS.
Each year a substantial amount of money is raised – usually over $10 000 – and it is always donated to cancer research.
However, in 2018 their goal is $5000 due to they recently hosted a a drought fundraiser.
