As the planting was underway on Tuesday morning members of Tidy Towns joked that they wanted everyone to know the new roses are designed to only thrive in the park’s garden beds as a way to deter would-be rose rustlers. Tidy Towns chairperson Lyn MacBain said as many are aware Singleton Tidy Towns promotes partnerships which benefit our community and try to value add in almost all things they do. “Recently a surprise donation from the Lions Club of Singleton was passed to Singleton Tidy Towns. The Committee decided to use some of this money to assist Council to replace some of the Roses blatantly removed from Burdekin Park,” she said. One of the roses named In Appreciation was chosen to show Tidy Towns Committee’s appreciation in all the Lions Club has done for our community.
