The course just keeps getting better and better and as a result there were some standout scores.
Junior Ethan Van Zyl shot A grade’s best nett score of 65 to take away the $40 winner’s prize. Andy Campbell took the runner’s up prize a full 4 shots behind.
Brendan James continued to plough his way through B grade by returning the day’s best score; a nett 63, to win his grade. The third round is traditionally known as moving day and Brendan was certainly one of the big movers. Mike Wyatt’s dream round of 65 would come into second place.
Greig Delaney turned back the clock with a nett 65 for a C grade victory. Consistent junior Zac Hayes pressed forward with his claims for a nett C grade championship win by taking the C grade runner’s up prize with his nett 66.
Saturday’s Secret 9 competition first place was awarded to Mike Wyatt. Mike defeated Zac Hayes, Paul Daniel, and Shaun Paget.
Sunday dawned with cooler conditions and the top four players in each grade were seeded to hit off in the final three groups.
For Sunday’s individual Stroke event Chad Vesper was once again the winner. Chad’s score of 64 was very impressive. Nathan Bagnall took the second placing with his nett 67. Both players shot 1 under par rounds of 68.
Jon Charsley’ nett of 68 was enough for a B grade victory. He finished two ahead of Brad Gardiner.
In C grade there was a tie for the winner and runner up. Dennis Edwards got the better of Craig Cooke; both finishing with 71 nett.
Sunday’s Secret 9 went to Chad Vesper, while the next three place getters were Nathan Bagnall, Shaun Paget, and Arne Coulston.
After all those rounds the winners had been decided. Chad Vesper won this championship with rounds of 71, 71, 75, 68, in what was a dominating display. His four round tally of 285 beat home Nathan Bagnall by 10 strokes.
Damien James was the elated B grade Champion. Damo’s 322 total edged out the fast finishing Tony Fay by 2 shots..
C grade was won by Craig Cooke who survived a grueling round that had more twists than a Rocky Balboa fight! Craig beat home Andrew Morrow by 3 shots. What a great effort by Andrew who wasn’t even playing in the seeded group.
Ethan Van Zyl was crowned the Singleton Golf Club junior champion. This was Ethan’s first year playing in the Club championships and his 4th placed finish was an admirable result.
After 72 holes the scratch and nett winners in A, B, C grades were:
A Scratch: Chad Vesper 285, Nathan Bagnall 295, Murray Considine 307.
