It was a hot and windy day and the scoring was also red hot.
Fred Erdman showed the rest of the field a clean pair of heels as he ran away with the event. His nett score of 61 had him winning by a margin of 4 from Mark Newman and Frank Palmowski. Fred’s 84 off the stick also won the C grade scratch prize. Interestingly, Fred won C grade in this very event last year!
Mark Newman took out the daily double in A grade; the scratch and nett prizes, with a fine 74 nett 65. A full 5 shots in arrears was Anthony Fay with a 70.
B grade’s Brett Sterritt was another winner of both the scratch and nett prizes. Sterro’s scratch score of 79 was outstanding considering his recent form. Brett’s nett score was 67. Our tournament sponsor Arne Coulston finished in the runner up position a shot back on 68.
The C grade nett winner was Frank Palmowski who beat home Mal Newman by the solitary stroke.
With the greens in such good shape it was hardly surprising to see low scores in the Secret 9 putting competition. Frank Palmowski was the best with 26 putts. The next three were John Marcheff (26), Steve Moore (27), and Tony Fay (27).
The time sheet for this Saturday’s competition is on the touch screen now. With the course in such great shape we’re sure to have a good field so get entered now to avoid any disappointment.
