It bettered the career-best 3-47 she claimed just two days earlier against Western Australia. Previously her best performance in the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) was 2-14.
Significantly the 22-year old also scored an enterprising, unbeaten 21 from just 20 balls in a Breakers innings which struggled for momentum.
In other good news Sydney Thunder announced they have resigned Gibson for a further year to see her remain in green ahead of the 2018/19 Rebel Women’s Big Bash League season.
Leg spinner Gibson has been at the Thunder since the side took home the inaugural WBBL trophy in WBBL|01 and played every match for the side last season, including the disappointing semi-final loss to Perth.
“We are all looking forward to giving it another crack (this season) and trying to win the trophy again and bring it back from WBBL|01,” said Gibson.
“I’m really looking forward to going from two broadcast games to seven this year, it’s really getting the word out there that the women’s game is growing massively along with all the other women’s sports in Australia as well.”
Sydney Thunder General Manager Lee Germon said "Leg spin is an art that takes time to develop and Maisy is making good progress. She contributes to the team on and off the field and is committed to the Thunder Nation.”
