Scott McLaughlin and Fabian Coulthard from DJR Penske Team were on hand to talk about tactics and driving skills with the members of the Pirtek Singleton team.
Twenty-five-year-old McLaughlin, a New Zealander, will be driving a Ford FGX Falcon in the race to be held from November 23-25.
Currently he holds a 14-point championship lead over Shane van Gisbergen, with only the Coates Hire Newcastle 500 remaining.
McLaughlin started last year's showdown trailing Jamie Whincup by 30 points and got ahead by 78 on the Saturday, only to fall 21 short on a dramatic Sunday.
Asked how he feels looking ahead to Newcastle the final race of the championship, McLaughlin said: "I'm [feeling] a bit of everything obviously. It's a nerve wracking time for both of us.” "But at the end of the day I just try and use the experience I learned last year.”
