To be launched at Christmas on John Street this Friday 7 December 2018, the Mayoral Christmas Tree Appeal aims to spread joy to those less fortunate with donations of unwrapped toys and non-perishable food items.
Businesses and residents from across the Singleton local government area can leave donations under the Christmas trees at Council’s Customer Service Centre, Singleton Visitor Information and Enterprise Centre, Colleen Gale Childrens Centre and Singleton OOSH (Out of School Hours Care).
“For many of us, Christmas is a wonderful time of year to spend with loved ones, sharing in an abundance of food and exchanging gifts. But Christmas isn’t so merry for some people in our community,” Cr Moore said.
“This has been a particularly hard year for a lot of families, including those impacted by the drought, and Christmas can be an added pressure for people already doing it tough”
“The Mayoral Christmas Tree Appeal is a wonderful way we can all support each other to make sure there’s something under every tree in Singleton come Christmas morning, and the true magic of Christmas touches everyone”
“All donations received will be distributed to local support groups and charities to make special deliveries across our community in time for Christmas Day”
“It doesn’t matter if it’s big or small, every gesture of support adds a little bit of cheer to what can be a difficult time of year. Christmas is nothing if not a time for giving, and I know the Singleton community will be generous.”
Donations will be received until Friday 14 December 2018.
