The 40-year-old proved to be the catalyst of Valley’s dominant third grade T20 victory over PCH thanks to an impressive hat-trick before a vocal crowd.
“There wasn’t much to it, I ended up with three wickets in a row and just went on with the game,” Janssen said when asked about the tremendous feat.
He playfully added, “Two of the batsmen hadn’t played cricket before so I’m not too proud talking about it.”
“The first one hit the middle stump, the next one was LBW and the final one knocked out off stump.”
This would be the veteran’s second hat-trick.
His first would take place at under-10 level some 32 years earlier.
Janssen’s great uncle Ray Nowlan was the club’s founder in 1966.
They were pretty excited and the second grade side had a bye so you could hear all of them from the sidelines as well.

He has played for 33 years and now enjoys sharing his cricket wisdom with his children.
“My dad actually never played cricket, he was a footballer in Musswellbrook and I didn’t want to go down his way so I ventured down the cricket path.”
The veteran finished the innings with 3/7.
