However Civello insists that his cameo appearance was for fitness reasons only as he awaits the return of the Strikers’ pre-season on January 28.
“I just found training with the group better than doing stuff by yourself and we’ll see if we can get some more of the (soccer) guys to come down,” Civello explained.
The former Queensland State League player made 18 appearances in 2017 before securing the club’s senior best and fairest in his debut season.
That season he would also score a hat-trick in his side’s 4-2 win over Toronto.
He also found a goal in the club’s memorable 4-3 FFA Cup victory over West Wallsend.
Civello would feature in nine games last year before travelling to Russia to watch the FIFA World Cup.
“It was spoken about a fair bit but I headed over to watch the World Cup actually,” he added.
“I wanted to hit the ground running this year and the fact that I missed out on so much of last season inspired me to start training earlier with the AFL boys.”
