The Chamber is very lucky to have two high calibre speakers for our Agricultural Luncheon so save the date to ensure you don’t miss this event.
Angus Street, CEO of Auctions Plus.
Auctions Plus is a market leader in providing online services for buying and selling livestock across Australia. Angus is originally from Scone and took over as the CEO of Auctions Plus this year. He will be providing insights into the beef market from a national and local perspective as well as discussing the increasing use of technology in the agricultural sector. After a dry 12 months in the Hunter and significant selling down of cattle, the cattle market outlook is a pertinent topic for large and small producers alike. Technology is playing an ever present part in our evolving agricultural landscape and as an early adopter (Auctions Plus was established in 1986 by MLA) and market leader we look forward to the insights Angus can provide as to the benefits and potential risks of embracing technology to do business.
Agricultural Market Outlook
Tobin Gorey, Director of Agricultural Commodities, Commonwealth Bank Tobin heads up the Ag Markets Economists for Commonwealth Bank operating across the whole of Australia. Tobin will be providing a broad market overview and outlook and will hone in on the local dairy industry and commodities market He will be able to update on what our local and national grain holdings look like, what international forces may impact prices and discuss the supply and demand forces that impact the price our farmers are paying for feed. This is an opportune time to look at the local market after harvest to see what grain is on hand locally and understand how this is being used for consumption locally versus being exported interstate and abroad.
