The one major asset is it’s baby grand piano which is to be handed over to the Singleton High School together with a sum of money to be put towards its refurbishment, move and re-tuning of the piano.

SAMS was established in June 1983 and since that time it has staged many concerts, garden parties, film days and bus excursions to the Opera House.

One of the founding members and former long term president Geoff Dunlop said the purchase of their concert baby grand Yamaha G7 7’4” piano had been a crowning achievement for SAMS.

The piano had previously been used at events in the vineyards and Newcastle.

Pianists including John Lill, Roman Rudnystsky and Philip Sketchley have been among the performers to have enjoyed playing the piano at concerts held in Singleton.

Currently housed at Sacred Spaces the piano will soon be on its way to the high school’s multi purpose centre where it will become an integral part of their musical education programs.

Principal, Jo Scott is overjoyed with the donation from SAMS.

“Its such a marvelous gift to our school and its students,” she said. “We have a growing music program at the school and arrival of the baby grand will be a special event. “In addition to the high school students musical program we are also doing more work with the primary school students in the area of music education”
