Prolific midfielder Hayden Nichol was confirmed as the senior side’s new skipper by head coach Dave Willoughby before the playing group on Tuesday night.
The mentor highlighted Nichol as ‘the logical choice’.
“Hayden was named player of the year in conjunction with Jordan Phelan last year,” Willoughby said.
“He comes from a fair bit of pedigree in the NPL given he played a lot of time with Weston.”
“He’s our Sergio Agüero, his job is to lay off goals for Jake, Joe and his brother Lachlan.”
Nichol takes over departing leader Ryan Hartwell (Maitland) while Jackson Cox and current Lake Macquarie star Stuart Plant also held the title under Willoughby in recent years.
“Being from around this area its great to be part of a representative side that’s playing well these days,” Nichol admitted.
