Less than a week after claiming the T20 title, the side returned to the longer form of the game on Saturday– and didn’t seem to miss a beat.
But, this time, the heroes were tail-enders Shane Reeves and Josh Rinkin who guided JPC to a one wicket victory.
Earlier in proceedings, Creeks appeared to be cruising at 1-117.
However, they lost 7-28 to post a competitive 8-145.
Hamid Arain top scored with 76 after blasting 10 boundaries while Chris Unicomb chipped in with 45.
Jacob O’Hara picked up 3-15, with Rinkin and Josh Harvey taking 2-25 and 2-18 respectively.
In reply, JPC looked in deep trouble at 7-79, despite Alex Thrift’s 27.
Shane Givney kept his outfit in the fight, but when he was run out for a well-compiled 64 (two sixes, nine fours), the side fell to 9-129 – still 17 runs in arears.
That did not deter the last pair, Reeves (10 not out) and Rinkin (5 not out), who reached the target in the 28th over.
Billy Newman shone with the ball, with 4-35, and Mark Unicomb (3-19) and Dan Tracey (1-33) also got among the wickets.
A great batting effort laid the platform for Valley’s 99-run triumph at the expense of PCH at Cook Park 3.
Nathan Bagnall cleared the boundary twice and smashed nine fours on his way to 77.
And, supported by Daniel Storey (55 – five sixes), Simon White (40) and Mark Foster (28), he helped Valley amass 9-239.
Dan Oldknow took 4-53, Jake Daniels captured 2-39 and Barton Jones, Jake Mackaway and Abe Jones each snared a scalp.
PCH began solidly, with Jackson Cox (50), Andrew Winsor (29) and Hugh Smith (21) leading the way.
However, the innings crumbled in the latter stages, with the team losing 8-52 to be all out on 140.
Dylan Hayes was the destroyer with 4-33 and Storey backed up his half century with 3-34.
Liam Storey, Tristan Muir and Tony Whiting made an impact with the ball, too.
