The variety of categories allows participation for a wide range of gardens including household, shared accommodation, community, education and business. A good neighbours’ category and household vegetable garden are also included. Even if you don’t have a garden there is a novelty section and this year’s theme ‘In a Handbag or Bag of Any Kind’ should prove interesting.
Gardens are assessed with specific criteria for each category and to state the obvious the weather will always be a factor, and this is taken into consideration during the assessment and the Committee hopes this alleviates concerns about the lack of rain.
Last year’s winning gardener Austin Latter said that “entering the Garden Competition is a great experience and is always something I look forward to and happy to support”. With wonderful sponsorship again this year’s competition has some great prizes including cash and items.
Entries close on the March 15th with judging taking place on the on the March 19th/20th. Presentation of prizes will take place on the March 22nd March at 6.30 at the Grand Hall in Mechanics Institute at 74 George Street.
Entry forms can be collected at the Singleton Argus, L J Hooker and Kirkwood’s Produce or for further information please contact Diana on 65733621 or Lyn on 65722235.
