For current Indigenous Education Officer Pauline Mitchell, the unveiling was four months in the making since she commenced her role.
“This sign is about unity,” she said.
“We live together, we work together and we look after each other.”
The sign showcase's Kawal, Singleton's inspiring and respectable wedged-tailed Eagle.
“This is the first large sign of this nature in the Singleton area with any of the schools (I’m lead to believe),” she added.
“We have school emblems and we have different things on their acknowledging our both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.”
“This is very important because I like to make everything inclusive for everybody.”
“Yes I have an Indigenous role within the school but I’m here for everybody (darling).”
