The Girls Academy is Australia’s leading provider of in-school programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls and works with 13 schools in New South Wales and on 45 school sites across Australia.
“International Women’s Day is a day where we reflect on all of the important women in our lives who have helped shape us as well as those all over the world that we admire. We welcome and encourage our guests on the day to share their stories and talk about the women in their lives to encourage and inspire the girls” explains Singleton Girls Academy Program Manager Renee MacDonald.
The theme for IWD 2019 is ‘Balance For Better’, with the United Nations IWD slogan being: ‘Think equal, build smart, innovate for change’.
The theme focusses on new ways in which we can advance gender equality and the empowerment of women, particularly in the areas of social protection, access to public services, and sustainable infrastructure.
Elders, mothers, grandmothers, aunties, big sisters, teaching staff, principals and our supporters in the business community receive invitations to attend.
The Girls Academy is dedicated to Closing The Gap in education and helping Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander girls realize their potential and become the community leaders of the future.
