He will now aim for more success in Ballarat this weekend after prevailing at the Bendigo invitational last week.
"It’s always good to get the win of course," he told the Singleton Argus.
"It’s going to be a great season with the depth of talent competing in Australia so to win the title this year will mean a lot."
He continued, "Last week the first bull ‘Wild Paint’ threw off 2018 champ Aaron Klier a month prior so I knew he was going to be a tough one to get eight seconds on. "
"And the final bull ‘Lost Signal’ had thrown me off in Shepparton the weekend prior but I’d successfully ridden him for the eight seconds twice before that so I knew the bull quite well."
Meanwhile, Heffernan has also confirmed the Haynes group as one of his newest official sponsors.
