Claim and counter claim oh the joys of electioneering and add a few cash splashes and that just about covers what has been offered to voters in the State election campaign.

By the comments on social media voters are most cynical about the cash being offered for various infrastructure projects and or services.
But in truth it is about time that Singleton received its fair share of the state's bounty.
Having read the budget papers for the last four years the word Singleton has been sadly missing. This is despite the fact that politicians from all sides agree this Local Government Area is one of the state's most important economic drivers due to its coal industry.
Given this fact one must ask why our roads and rail and hospital aren't gleaming examples of the world best facilities.
A drive up the New England Highway to Muswellbrook reveals a road little changed in 30 plus years and how it is called a national highway is beyond this driver.
It is not much better heading south as the intersection of the New England and Golden highways remains a death trap and should you decide to travel west to Dubbo another miserable goat track awaits.
The Singleton bypass - remains an impasse with the cheapest option across the Whittingham floodplain the only one to be considered.
Public transport - what is that you may ask? We have been offered perhaps the chance of two more trains in 2020 but that is not set in concrete as it depends on coal haulage and public usage.
So all in all a bit of a sorry state for us locals at a time when we need to be thinking about the future.
We need the cancer treatment room at our hospital, we need a fully functioning TAFE, we need a bypass and national highways that live up to their name.
Two more trains immediately at the very least and more planned for 2020.
We also need a vision for our future, if as predicated the future involves more renewable power and less demand for coal. That is where TAFE and access to further education and retraining will be vital.
So on Saturday please consider our future when you vote because at the end of the day you only have this wonderful power each four years - please use it wisely.
