The grand final hero found a six on the second last bowl of Saturday's first grade decider against Valley before his teammates rushed from the expanses of Howe Park to celebrate.

But this was a celebration like no other in recent history.

The PCH line-up required 40 runs in the final four overs to secure its first title in the top tier competition since Warren Gillespie guided the side to glory in 2002.

"I'll admit that I should have been disappointed but once I saw that shot clear the fence I thought 'that shot was awesome'," opposing captain and SDCA boss Daniel Storey admitted.

Knight proved to be the hero of the day.

"We needed two runs off the last two bowls and I'd been in that position before," Knight added.

"So I thought I'd try it again.

"We deserve it, we were top of the table for a majority of the year but admittedly rain got us here into the final."

When asked for his final words the proud 27-year-old turned to his team celebration and added, "bleed blue baby."

Moments later the team's water supply was poured onto its unsuspecting skipper Jackson Cox.

He raised his arms with joy.

"I'm still shaking to be honest," Cox said.

"I was shaking this morning and I'm still shaking right now but we'll have a big night tonight and we'll make the most of it.

"We kept it tight in the first innings and they had a par score so to get the win with one bowl left was a real reflection of the day."

Cox continued, "I just want to thank each and every PCH player, club member, parents and girlfriends for their support."

Final result: PCH 8/223 defeated Valley 9/218.
