The Youth Grade teams all played on Saturday with Thornton winning three of the four games played.
The highlight from a Strikers view point was a 9-0 win by the 14s including another bucket full of goals to Alex Staffa.
Will Passlow also found the back of the net and at the end, a penalty awarded to Singleton was duly converted by keeper Dominic Rohr, to the delight of his team mates, and of course himself.
The 13s were again beaten but the extent of losses is getting less as they start to gel as a team.
The 15s ended the game a man down after a late dismissal but were well beaten by that time.
The Strikers scorer in a six one loss was Josh Ihle.
The biggest disappointment of the day was the result and more importantly the performance of the 17s.
Described as the worst performance of the year, a luck Thornton goal was the only one that either side cold manage.
Friday evening was far more successful for the club. The wintery conditions at Howe Park suited the Over 35s with both sides taking full points.
F Grade were 2-1 winners against table toppers West Wallsend. Goal scorers were Ryan Guihot and Bryce Rheinberger, two former first grade defenders in their debut over 35 season.
E grade were up against Beresfield, who included former Strikers senior coach Scott Bailie, the home side ran out two-nil winners with Matt Bentley and Paul O'Loughlin, returning from injury on the score sheet.
The Singleton ladies made the long trip to Morriset and after a slow start were able to work their way back into the game a grab a point in a two-all draw.
Reports suggest that they could easily have won.
This weekend will see action at Howe Park on all three days. On Friday the Storm (Singleton ladies) take on Cessnock City after traveling to Medowie for a game on Wednesday.
On Saturday the Youth Grade sides will be in action against New Lambton with the senior side playing on Sunday.
Over 35 F grade have a weekend off while E grade are on the road at Tenambit.
