The Singleton Bulls' first grade side will enter the bye this weekend with a 1-4 record for the season. Tries to Brady Hay, Aaron Brennan and Cody Fenwick would not be enough for the Bulls over the weekend who suffered a 31-22 defeat to Merewether Carlton.
"The second half Singleton absolutely dominated us," Merewether co-coach Mick Gill told the Newcastle Herald. "Their energy and enthusiasm was way above ours."
A massive crowd, including many old boys were on hand for a ceremony before kick off to mark the end of Merewether's iconic home, the Green Room, which was demolished on Monday. Earlier in the day the Bulls' second grade side also faced defeat 52-21 after a much closer Merewether victory in third grade 31-24.
MEANWHILE the Pokolbin Reds outclassed the University of Newcastle side 56- as locals Jacob Meredith, Dylan Dower and Alex Thrift each celebrated two tries each. The Singleton Army Base Lions also played out a draw for the second straight week. This time it was against Cooks Hill 17-17.
