RESIDENTS of the Mercy Nursing home were in for a "sweet treat" early Monday morning as the 'McMercy Ice Cream' stall officially opened in the aged care facility. Each week, the residents of the Mercy Nursing home would make an outing to the golden gates of McDonald's to indulge in the classic "50c soft serve cone" and soon decided that they needed a soft serve machine of their own. "We like to keep residents happy and we asked and discussed what they wanted, or well needed, and they all said how great it would be to have our own soft serve machine," says the facility service manager Leesa Bighen.
