This concert, presented by Lower Clarence Valley Opera, from the North Coast of NSW, will be performed in the Sacred Spaces' Chapel and will be accompanied by Sr Anne Gallagher and Gwen Berman.
All the singers are all originally from Maclean and Yamba, NSW and currently studying in Sydney and Brisbane.
The five did most of their music training growing up at the Maclean Music Academy with Sr.Anne Gallagher, Gwen Berman and Connie De Dassel. Michelle Ryan, who currently lives in Sydney, left the Clarence Valley in 2010 to pursue her singing studies at the Sydney Conservatorium before leaving for Europe after her studies.
Troy Castle, Emma Short, Madeleine Short and Connor Willmore have all been currently undertaking their tertiary studies at the School of Music at the University of Queensland.
The five were all given opportunities to perform a variety of styles growing up at the Music Academy including singing in community concerts, playing an instrument in the community ensemble for some of them, singing in the community choir, performing in Musicals, singing at Carols and overall experiencing the real joy music brings and sharing it with the community.
All singers have aspirations to pursue careers in singing and share the rare experience of having grown up in a small country town where opera is not really a big part of the community.
Maclean is a Scottish Town where sport is popular and the ocean is only ten minutes away for keen surfers. But through The Music Academy and travels to the city to discover more about music, in particular classical singing, Troy, Michelle, Emma, Madeleine and Connor have all caught the opera bug.
Tickets are $25 adult and $20 students/concession. Available at trybooking.com/494892 and also available at the door from 1.30pm.
