Fast forward 22 years and the club's junior head honcho has landed Lancaster Motor Group as a major sponsor.
While Foster's on-field heroics from the 2013 third grade grand final are still held by many supporters in recent memory he holds this deal in just as high regard in reflection.
"It was certainly very exciting to partner up with them for the three year deal," he explained.
"They are our major sponsor for the juniors and it was pretty exciting what they've done for us this year not just from the cash element but also for providing the cattle truck for the kids each week.
"It's something that I've just never seen before."
The deal has already proved to be a catalyst for the region's high rise in representative selections across the weekend in comparison with recent years.
"To have six Singleton boys feature in the under-13 side as an example was just brilliant," he added.
"I wouldn't say that it was a record all up but it was certainly the biggest representation we've had in the Hunter Wildfires for any of the teams.
