Primary students from Singleton's King Street Public School gathered in suspense this morning when their principal Mr Jonathan Russell announced the addition of a new identity.
The Singleton Argus was on hand to discover the addition of a new tawny frogmouth mascot simoply known as 'Tawny'.
"It will be an integral part of our PBL (Positive Behaviour for Learning) program," Cindy Judge (School Administration Manager) explained.
Tawny frogmouths are large, big-headed birds that can measure from 34 to 53cm long.
These birds are considered to be among Australia's most effective pest-control birds, as their diet consists largely of species regarded as vermin or pests in houses and gardens.
