Through shared facilities and teachers, Australian Christian College (ACC), Singleton High School and St Catherine's Catholic College provide vocational training in Electrotechnology, Hospitality and Primary Industries.
Practically, that means a student enrolled in Year 11 at St Catherine's may go to ACC one afternoon a week for Electrotechnology training or to Singleton High School for Hospitality training.
Each of schools has the specialist facilities to provide the training.
Whether students are in a big or small secondary school, their learning programs are enriched by having access to courses in the local Singleton cluster.
Singleton's three secondary principals, along with head teachers and trainers meet together twice per term to share information about each of the programs and to ensure the smooth operation of the cluster.
It is this spirit of collaboration that sets a foundation for increased student opportunity.
Students are typically highly motivated and engaged in trade training and for good reason.
For a decade now the trade training through the cluster has provided a pathway to apprenticeships and other job opportunities and further training.
Trainers of each of the courses provide practical workplace experiences for students to implement their new skills.
Local businesses regularly visit students to provide training input and to offer advice about securing apprenticeships.
Each year a considerable proportion of trainees secure apprenticeships through opportunities provided by the cluster.
