Vera sadly passed away in late 2018 and members of the Auxiliary have been organising a tribute to their beloved friend ever since. "Vera was an amazing friend to all of us, she worked tirelessly for the Hospital Auxiliary and many other organisations in the community," current president Sue Langdon told the Singleton Argus.
"We hope this magnolia tree grows strong with our love for her," she added.
Vera spent 50 years visiting patients at the Singleton Hospital. Her dedication to the hospital and the patients began while visiting her mother in the Dangar Wing.
Riding a push bike she took afternoon tea in a shopping bag to her mother. This thoughtful deal deed grew to serving other patients as well.
Following this Vera joined the Pink Ladies. Washing and setting patients hair, to shopping for long term patients all undertaken by the volunteers.
