Nevertheless the Year 9 Singleton High School student speaks on behalf of his entire Singleton Greyhound junior playing group when paying tribute to his coaches Glen and Cooper Maytom ahead of this weekend's Hunter Cup in Denman.
"Goof (Glen) and Cooper have helped fast track my development by letting me play in the under-16s against the bigger boys," Donohue explained.
"Now I'm really keen to head over to Denman and take on the other two sides.
"Last year we had a talk about NRL and what it means to wear your region's colours the night before the Country Championships.
"But then we lost the games on the Saturday so after a summer of working on speed, strength and agility I want to change the results this year."
Donohue will be one of 25 Singleton juniors who will represent Group 21 this weekend.
