To be an entrant into the Overall Award for 2019 NSW Tidy Town submission for four categories must be made to KABNSW for the assessor to visit us.
The categories entered are Environmental Communication Award-Singleton Tidy Towns Garden Competition, Water Less, Recycle More Award-Singleton Waste Management Facility, Habitat and Wildlife Conservation Award-Singleton's Green Corridors and the Schools Environmental Achievement Award- Singleton Heights Pre School.
Tidy Town's Committee president, Lyn MacBainha confirmed KABNSW Assessor Doug McDonald will be visiting on Friday August 2 and the committee will have just three hours to impress him. Singleton Tidy Towns will host the visit with an itinerary allowing Mr McDonald the maximum exposure to our community, council and business endeavours.
Mrs MacBain said Singleton Tidy Towns has plenty of experience and success in promoting the Singleton district over the years and are quietly confident, however, with category and population criteria changing in recent years we are now placed in apopulation category that compares us with any population over 20,000, this sees us up againts places such as Maitland and Newcastle.
"Here's hoping the purple will reign once again as it did when Singleton was announced NSW Tidy Town and onto win the Australian Spirit Award in 2006," she said.
