The studio first opened in 2013 running classes in St. Luke's Church hall with a total of thirty students in their first year. The studio offered dance styles such as jazz, tap, lyrical, pom, acrobatics, cheer, tumbling, ballet and cabaret as well as both examination and competition classes.
Across the years the studio have competed at numerous Dance Eisteddfods, AASCF Cheer-leading competitions, performed at community events such as Cracker Night and the Singleton Show and even cheered for the Singleton Greyhounds.
"Over the years we've had seven members of staff, each offering a different style, flavor and experience for our athletes. We've had ten beautiful athletes who have been with us for over six years too" says studio owner and principal Kelsie Louise-hogan.
Empire Dance have accumulated over 200 first place/championship/national titles and four sportsman ship awards for the studio.
"My favourite memories aren't the the trophies, although I am very proud of our accomplishments, seeing our athletes perform, from the heart and with passion," Kelsie adds.
"There is no better feeling from a coach's perspective than seeing a soloist or a team develop into the amazing people they are. Getting "over the top" excited when they nail a skill they've been working so hard on or when they perform to their utmost best."
Kelsie says the decision to close is very saddening but she is ready to take on the next chapter in her life with her family.
"From the bottom of my heart, I am so thankful for my husband, Josh, our children, our family and friends for all of their love and support over these years. Our athletes and their families over the last seven years," she continues.
"There are so many people who made our Empire Family the way we are. It has been a blessing to be given such an amazing opportunity to go on this journey together."
Empire will now transition into a different role in the industry, offering services such as contracted choreography and cleaning, music creations for routines, workshops, judging and more.
