Gilson, known to Argus readers as the 'Superfish', has continued to put Singleton on the map in the national multi-class swimming scene (a competition for swimmers with a disability).

He now hopes to complete his decade of dominance with a memorable finish on the world stage.

"The Global Games mean a lot to me because I use them as a stepping stone towards other things," Gilson revealed.

"Personally it's all about the PBs for me and also my parents like seeing me do well."

Earlier this year the Singleton High School student returned the School Sport Australia (SSA) Championships in Melbourne with nine medals (including five gold victories) from ten events.

He was also named as the NSW multi-class captain in the lead up to the week.

Gilson will now represent Australia in the following five events starting this Saturday:

50m Breaststroke

Argus says: Gilson prevailed in Melbourne with a time of 32.86 ahead of Victoria's Dylan Logan (33.13) and Max Kennedy (36.55).

The 2015 INAS Global Games champion, Alberto Vera (Venezuela), took out the title with a time of 32.97. This proves he's in contention to top the podium.

Darcy says: "It's just a bit of fun for me; it's a bit of splash and dash."

100m Breaststroke

Argus says: Gilson managed to knock off his rivals in Melbourne with a time of 1:13.13. He edged out Logan by less than a second while Kennedy finished second on the podium due to the points system.

South Korean Yang Mook Jung conquered the feat with a time of 1:11.15 at the last edition of the INAS Global Games. Gilson's recent time would have seen him finish fifth on the world stage.

Darcy says: "That's one of my favourites and I gained some confidence after Melbourne."

200m Breaststroke

Argus says: Gilson took out nine medals in Melbourne. He would have most definitely reached the double figures had the School Sport Australia (SSA) Championships featured a 200m discipline in the multi-class category.

Yang Mook Jung also won the last Global Games 200m Breastroke title with a time of 2:30.54 in 2015 after conquering the first lap (1:13.55).

Darcy says: "I actually prefer it over the 100m."

200m Backstroke

He's the reigning Australian multi-class school champion for both the 50m and 100m.

If the tournament in Melbourne held 200m events for multi-class swimmers then Gilson would have dominated this event. That's our hindsight.

Darcy says: "Again, I like that distance."

400m Individual Medley -

Argus says: Gilson's fifth gold medal in Melbourne came in the 200m Individual Medley (time of 2:27.14) but does he have the endurance to double the distance?

Regardless of his result, he is the only Australian competing in the event and the town of Singleton and we could not be prouder of his performances throughout the decade.

Darcy says: "It's one of the toughest events but I'll try my best."
