Plenty of beef cattle activity in the coming days and weeks - starting this Friday with the annual Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza, the largest schools beef cattle competition in the Australia.

Sponsored by Waverley Station the organisers are anticipating record entries for cattle with 480 steers and heifers to arrive this week at White Park, Scone.
Last year's event drew support from 880 competitors ranging in age from primary school students right through to 18 year old.
President Charles Mill said "A huge thank you to all the schools and breeders for your entries into the 2019 Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza. Entries this year are higher than ever and your support is greatly appreciated, particularly with the widespread impact of the drought. Preparations are well underway for this year's event and we are looking forward to seeing you all next week."
There has been widespread interest from schools, not just in the Hunter but across NSW, including Yass High School, Coonamble High School, Lake Cargelligo Central School, as well as new schools like Orange Anglican Grammar School, Bundarra Central School and Henry Lawson High School, Grenfell.
The three day event runs until Sunday.
Hunter Local Land Services staff will be attending Bonanza and they have organised a demonstration of low stress stock handling by Grahame Rees is an industry leader in low stress handling techniques. Mr Rees is coming to the Hunter to run three courses for local producers and industry at Scone, Tocal and Taree. On Friday November 1 Hunter LLS is conducting a beef basics session in Singleton at Singleton Diggers from 9:00am to 1:00pm.
The morning is designed for beef industry new comers but also industry veterans as there will be plenty of information on the latest beef products specifically drenches and vaccines and drought advice and where and what assistance is available.
Hunter LLS, Singleton based district veterinarian Kristi Arnot said all beef producers were encouraged to attend the session.
" We will be discussing recommended vaccinations and worming protocols- inclduing what's new on teh market, " she said.
"Nutrition including basics on pastures and suitable stocking rates.
"On the drought we will provide information on early weaning."
