"We have three life members in Rod Spence, Kyle Kermode and Jodie Kermode," Peter declared.
"With retirement looming for Rod 17 years ago he didn't know what he was going to do and he knew his daughter had a clarinet and asked if he could borrow it."
"It did take him three weeks to get a note out of it," he added. "It was then suggested he join the town band and we've had him ever since."
Mother and son duo Jodie and Kyle Kermode were also honoured to receive life membership.
"My son started first but when I was coming and dropping him off for practice we had Julia, one of our older members, that found out I used to play in high school," Jodie reflected prior to the concert.
"Next thing you know there was a trumpet in my hand."
