For Macleay landholders with fire affected livestock go to emergency fodder pick up locations along the coast.
Current locations are:
- Kempsey Showground, 19 Sea Street, West Kempsey.
- Macksville Showground, 111 Rodeo Drive, North Macksville.
- Grafton DPI Institute, Trenayr Road, Junction Hill.
Mid Coast landholders needing emergency fodder are required to register via the Agriculture and Animal Services Hotline on 1800 814 647.
Hunter Local Land Services and the Department of Primary Industries are working together to support landholders affected by the fires that have devastated our region.More than 22 tonnes of hay has already been supplied to help local producers feed their livestock over coming days.
"If you or someone you know has livestock that have been left without feed or water, please call the hotline now to register for support," said Hunter Local Land Services General Manager Brett Miners.
"Immediate assistance is available, to help give landholders time to assess their situation and make plans for their stock.
"From calls received so far and the mapping we have done of the fire ground, we know more than 1,000 local properties covering nearly 130,000 hectares of land has been affected across our region and we want landholders to know we are here to help."
"These fires come on the back of the worst drought on record, so we know our landholders are already under huge strain caring for their stock."Where possible, our staff are now out in the field assessing injured animals and welfare issues.
"Please understand, access to some fire grounds remains unsafe in some areas, but our teams are working to assess the full extent of livestock losses and impacts on agricultural infrastructure," said Mr Miners.
"This is why we are urging landholders to please register with the hotline so we know where you are and what help you require."
"Our teams can help with emergency fodder and stock water for immediate welfare situations, feeding and nutrition advice, as well as veterinary assistance and where necessary, stock euthanasia and burial.
"Due to the ongoing fire situation, some livestock remain in local evacuation centres at Taree and Wingham Showgrounds, where our staff are also assisting owners.
Over the last week more than 560 animals including horses, dogs, cats, small pets and livestock including sheep, goats and alpacas have sought refuge in local evacuation centres.
We are here to help for the duration of the emergency and will remain on hand for the recovery, to help our communities and producers with the difficult times ahead.
