The Singleton Business Chamber recently joined forces with Singleton Council to unveil Spend in Singleton gift cards as part of the Why Leave Town shop local initiative.
The program, which originally kicked off in Narrabri and now comprises 20 locations in New South Wales and Queensland, works as a gift card system to ensure local dollars remain just that, "local".
And, Singleton Business Chamber president Sue Gilroy is encouraging every business to be involved.
"This program is highlighting the excellent variety of local businesses available to shop at in Singleton," she explained.
"Cafes, restaurants and licensed venues, boutique retail, service stations and professional services have already joined up.
"Singleton has something for everyone.
"If you have a local business and have not yet registered, please jump on our website or contact the Singleton Business Chamber for more information.
"This program has the potential to be beneficial to every business and resident in Singleton."
Mrs Gilroy is very happy some local employers are already supporting the initiative by purchasing the cards to be used as Christmas gifts or end of year rewards.
"When companies purchase our Spend in Singleton gift card for their employees, they are supporting local businesses throughout a crucial trading period and also giving their employees a great gift at the same time," she said.
The cards may be purchased from:
- BLISS Skin Beaut - ique
- Club Singleton
- Horse and Jockey Hotel
- Hunter Floral Studio
- Singleton Business Chamber
- Singleton Diggers - Alroy Park
- Singleton Diggers - York Street
- Singleton Physiotherapy and Allied Health
- Wattaka Café
They can be redeemed on purchases at more than 50 businesses participating within the program.
The list is available on the chamber's website at www.singletonchamber.org.au
Local businesses wishing to take part can do so by contacting Singleton Business Chamber to register.
Once registered, activation of the business' EFTPOS terminal/machine to accept the cards is quick and simple.
The Spend in Singleton gift cards can be loaded with funds from as little as $10 up to $1000.
They'll only be loaded once (no top ups) but can be used multiple times or spent all at once at the participating local businesses.
All gift cards expire after three years.
Purchasers can check card balances online or by phone, and registered cards may be replaced if lost.
