While the visitors would prevail local teenage talents Isaac Barry (84 runs) and Beau Parnell (55) stood tall while youngster Hayden Moorcroft also collected two wickets earlier in the piece.
Matt Hopley (69) led the way for Cessnock in a side which featured former SDCA players Joe Butler (Glendon) and Darren Thomson (JPC).
