Official statement (Football Federation Australia):
Football Federation Australia today advised that, in light of ongoing developments since its original announcement, including stricter measures imposed by the Federal Government in response to COVID-19, the temporary suspension to sanctioned grassroots football competitions and associated training would remain in place until at least May 31, 2020.
The initial return date was set at April 14.
However the 27 day postponement, set on Tuesday, March 17, was announced when Australia's COVID-19 case total was at 453.
Fast forward 15 days later and that figure has now grown to 4,862 while the Hunter New England Health region has also sky-rocketed from 13 to 208 cases in the same time frame.
The Singleton Strikers opened the season with a 3-1 defeat to Cessnock at Turner Park before climbing back up the table with a scoreless draw to West Wallsend.
Weston recruit Joel Barner remains the side's leading scorer.
