There was little success but the first grade managed a one all draw with top of the table Belmont Swansea at Howe Park. 'Belswans' started the game three points clear of the Strikers at the top of the table, but having played two more games, meaning the game was a major test for the credentials of the local side.
The first half was end to end action but apart from a short ten minute period the visitors were in control and looked the better side.
With no improvement in the blustery conditions after half time, Singleton lifted their game but it was Belswans who took the lead when a speculative cross was deflected into his own net by Ben Henry.
At the other end, the dynamic Joel Barner went one on one with the keeper but blasted over the top.
By this time the Strikers were well on top, but it took until a scramble in the six yard box that saw the referee point to the penalty spot for the home team to equalise through captain Hayden Nichol.
Neither side seemed satisfied settling for a point and both did their best to turn the game in their favour, but neither was able to add to their tally.
Nichol spoke to The Argus about the match, and believes they should have probably got the winner.
"We had a number of chances after that (the penalty) and it's probably a credit to how fit the guys are, being able to run over teams in the last 10 to 15 minutes of the games," he said.
"Players' player was goalkeeper Corey Cleaver who made a number of great saves and came out to claim many balls in the howling wind."
Between this and other results, New Lambton have returned to the top of the table and Singleton dropped to fourth.
