In its 11th year, the Wambo Coal Singleton Hall of Fame recognises those individuals, organisations and families connected to Singleton by birth, education or residence and who have achieved State, National or international acclaim in their field of endeavour.
Nominations are invited in the categories of Arts, Science and Education; Community Service; Sport; Public Service; Business, Industry & Tourism; and Meritorious Family.
The 2021 inductees will join more than 50 people whose mark has been honoured with a special paver set within the Singleton Civic precinct.
Chairman of the Hall of Fame Committee Cr Godfrey Adamthwaite said given the challenges that confronted the community this year - namely drought, bushfire and COVID-19 - it was the perfect time to celebrate the people of Singleton and their accomplishments.
"Each year, Singleton celebrates the achievements and contributions of eminent individuals and organisations via the Wambo Coal Singleton Hall of Fame. They inspire us through their achievements and challenge us to make our own contribution to create an even better Singleton," he said.
"The Singleton community is full of dedicated volunteers, passionate community workers, innovators and sporting heroes who elevate Singleton on the regional and national stage. "We all know these great people or organisations, and know the stories of what they've done."
Cr Adamthwaite said while COVID-19 may impact on the presentation ceremony this year, the Committee was ploughing ahead in hope a face-to-face ceremony could be held on Wednesday November 18.
"But whatever the COVID-19 restrictions that will be in place at the time, we will recognise our 2020 inductees in the manner they deserve, either in person or virtually.
"In the meantime, we're encouraging anyone who knows someone worthy of a paver on our Hall of Fame to make a nomination, especially in the Meritorious Families category.
Nominations close on Friday September 25.
