On Sunday evening at approximately 7:20pm Singleton Fire & Rescue station, units from Hunter Vally Rural Fire Service, Hunter Valley Police and Singleton Ambulance responded to reports of a house alight at Long Point near Singleton.

Emergency services arrived and found the house (located on mine owned property) alight. The fire was contained to the shed. Fire & Rescue firefighters used their quick cut saw to gain entry to the garage.
The contents of the garage were totally destroyed by fire and although there was smoke damage to the house the quick response from the emergency services saved the property.
Police were in attendance to investigate the fire cause and Ambulance were in attendance for firefighter welfare.
It has been a busy week for local emergency services as they were all called out to assist with storm damage on Friday night then the house fire on Sunday.
On Monday evening Singleton Fire & Rescue and Hunter Valley police responded to reports of a vehicle alight in down town Singleton.
Emergency services arrived and found a car well alight. Firefighters quickly got to work with a hose line and breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire.
The vehicle was totally destroyed by fire.
In good news for the community the popular Santa Lolly Run, re- started in 2005 by Singleton Fire & Rescue, will be held again this year. It will be held the week following the John Street Christmas party - December 6. Firemen and Santa will be driving the streets of Singleton delivering lollies.
