The Rotary Club of Singleton welcome all to participate in the Annual Singleton Community Challenge.

The Rotary Club of Singleton are set to host their first ever Singleton Annual Community Challenge.

The aim of the initiative is to help bring the Singleton community together in a fun, challenging way and it also aims to give back to the community by funding local projects.

The Rotary Club of Singleton are encouraging schools, businesses and all community members to participate in the Singleton Community Challenge this March.

Chair of the working party Joe-Anne Bendall said community groups and organisations will be able to apply for grants from the Rotary Club of Singleton with the money raised from the Singleton Community Challenge.

"The money raised from the initiative will go straight back into the community to groups such as schools, sporting teams or clubs, health facilities, social clubs etc."

"Any group within the Singleton LGA that wants to apply for a grant are welcome to do so when they are advertised and released later this year," she added.

The Rotary Club of Singleton are encouraging local community members, clubs, schools and businesses to participate in the week-long event that is set to take place from March 19.

"We would love to get the word out there to get as many people or groups involved as possible," Joe-Anne continued.

"We would love to be able to raise $4000 this year and hopefully more in the future years to come."

With COVID-19 restrictions still in place, the Rotary Club of Singleton settled on a challenge that would allow people or groups to participate in a safe manner, yet still feel in a community goal. It was also important to make the event inclusive by enabling people to use any activity they choose to complete their kms. We are encouraging our community to be innovative and feel part of the community.

The challenge works in three steps.

1. Choose your distance.

With 5km, 20km and 30km distances to choose from and a whole week to complete it, there is something for everyone.

2. Choose your activity.

Work the legs; Walk, run, treadmill, horse ride, stair-master, hike, skip, walk the dog.

Move those arms; wheelchair, swim or canoe.

Make them wheels role;bicycle, scooter, motorised wheelchair, stroller or pram.

3. Raise funds for the Singleton community.

Once registered, participants will have their very own fundraising page that they can share to help get sponsorship.

Plus, participants will also be rewarded with badges each time you reach a key fundraising milestone, and be part of our leader board.
