Although the 'actual' show was postponed due to COVID restrictions the cattle ring remained operational - a pleasing result for schools and local stud cattle breeders.
There was over 100 students in attendance at the Allan Ball Cattle Clinic which has now been held for 19 years thanks to the hard work of his son and daughter-in-law Greg and Leonie Ball and their committee. Mrs Ball said stud beef exhibits were stable in numbers, as per last year.
"The weather certainly played an influence on numbers, but no one is complaining as it is the best feeling to see green grass and water. It is such a contrast from the previous year's of drought," she said.
Junior champion judge was Josephine Green winner of the 12-15 years section.
St Catherine's Catholic College, Singleton won the teams competition with sisters Matilda-Jane and Amelia Sternbeck and Georgia Urquhart.
St Catherine's also exhibited the champion and reserve champion trade steers with two Limousin entries bred by Liz and Tony Sutcliffe, Toebelle Limousin stud Maitland. These steers are destined for the Sydney Royal show steer competition.
In the stud cattle ring Bureen Cattle Company paraded the supreme exhibit.
