This new service has arrived a few years after Witmores introduced their respite accommodation, which enables parents or carers to be able to take a break and, at the same time, allow children and adults living with a disability to be able to learn to be independent out of the family home.
Witmore's current SIL participant said she enjoys living in the house and having staff help her to do the things she likes and live a happy life.
This year the participant aims to get her drivers license and learn new skills. Team Leader who oversees the SIL operations Kate Johnson said the service is operating successfully however they are seeking more tenants.
"The modern four bedroom home features an open plan kitchen and dining, large living room and an amazing outdoor area which was made for entertaining," said Kate. "Witmore Enterprises has welcomed a young lady into the home already and has a vacancy for one more female with NDIS SIL funding," she continued.
"If anyone does have SIL funding in the Hunter region who has been struggling to find accommodation please contact us, we would be happy to see if we can assist you in any way." If this sounds like you or someone you know, get in touch today. Sil@witmore.org.au or (02) 6572 2578.
